CPET is a good choice for food takeaway packaging because it can withstand the heat of cooking and reheating without melting or deforming. It is also resistant to grease and oil, which makes it ideal for packaging foods that are high in these ingredients. CPET is also lightweight and easy to transport, which makes it a good choice for businesses that offer food delivery or catering services.

Bio-plastics are a form of PET that has the fossil fuel element replaced by a plant-based alternative. Bio-degradable plastics are plant-based alternatives that degrade the earth using either water and heat or are water-soluble.
Unfortunately, the UK does not have an infrastructure system to deal with biodegradable plastics. If UK manufacturers were to manufacture using bio-degradable plastics now, there is a substantial risk that the biodegradable plastics would contaminate the existing plastics and cause even more environmental damage. RegalPack can readily switch to bio-degradable plastics as soon as there is a waste and recycling system to deal with it.
Sometimes it is necessary to use different types of plastic because of the product going into them. For example, if the food needs to be reheated in a microwave you will need to use either PP (Polypropylene) or CPET (Crystalline PET) which make these plastics suitable for heating.
Plastic packaging plays an important role in food safety and hygiene. It helps to protect food from contamination, pests, and spoilage. Without plastic packaging, food would be more likely to become contaminated and unsafe to eat. This could lead to an increase in foodborne illness.
In addition, plastic packaging helps to extend the shelf life of food. This means that food can be stored for longer periods of time without becoming spoiled. This can help to reduce food waste and save money.
If plastic packaging were to be banned, it would have a significant impact on the food industry. Businesses would have to find new ways to package food, which could lead to increased costs. Consumers would also have to change their shopping habits, which could be inconvenient and time-consuming.
Cardboard containers for food that contain moisture need to have a laminate applied to stop the cardboard from getting soggy and falling apart. This makes the cardboard non-recyclable without specialist facilities to separate the 2 elements. Unfortunately, we do not have enough of these facilities available in the UK to cope with the volume of cardboard containers. For example, the sandwich packs in every supermarket that we assume are recycled currently go to landfill because the UK cannot recycle them efficiently or cost-effectively.
Due to the nature of the UK’s waste collection, this varies by local authority. Currently, the best recycling performance is in Wales where 65% is collected for recycling. In England, the figure is a 45% collection rate. The UK’s Waste Framework Directive target is to achieve 50% of household waste recycling by 2020. Scotland has a 70% recycling target with a minimum of 5% to landfill, by 2025.
All of our boxes are delivered flat-packed, ready for you to assemble. They are cut-to-shape and creased ready for you to assemble them.
Unfortunately, we do not offer white ink printing on any of our products when ordering online. If you would like white ink printing on a kraft/brown box product then please contact us and we may be able to help. White ink printing will increase the cost of your product significantly and is not available on any of our bag, pouch, or sticker products.
If you need white in your design then we would recommend choosing a white product/material rather than kraft/brown. If you upload a logo with white onto a kraft/brown product then the white will be removed automatically and you will see the effect on the screen.
For EAN-13 retail barcodes, the standard size is 38mm wide x 25mm high. The minimum size we recommend for EAN-13 barcodes is 30mm wide x 20mm high.
